The clock is ticking. From 18 November 2026, all existing company directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) in the UK must have verified their identity with Companies House.
This is part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, the largest reform to UK company law in over 150 years. The new obligation is simple but strict: every director and PSC must confirm their identity, either directly through GOV.UK One Login or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider, before their next confirmation statement is filed.
Failing to verify in time can lead to fines of up to £5,000 and, if the delay continues, the company being struck off the register.
With less than four months to go, now is the time to act.
